Paramedics in BC are in integral part of the Emergency response system to all citizens in the Province of BC.

Paramedics, Fire and Police Working TogetherSide by side, Paramedics respond to emergencies with our colleagues from the Police and Fire Departments in all corners of the Province. We are on the front line 24 hours a day, seven days a week, putting our lives on the line.

BC Ambulance Paramedics have suffered the same drastic increases in call volumes, work load, retirement attrition and costs of living as other BC emergency services, yet have been allowed to fall far behind in compensations.

The majority of Paramedics in BC work on a call out basis, earning a meager $2/hr while 'on-duty'.

While BC Ambulance management wages and staffing has been permitted to run rampant, the Paramedics on the street have endured no increases in either wages or staffing for several years.

Now, Paramedics are asking for your help. It is time for us to restore our historical wage parity with the Vancouver Police Department.

For too long, Paramedics have sacrificed their well being to band aid together the BC Ambulance Service. Today, Paramedics are leaving our province or even the profession at an ever increasing rate.

Shown below is an independant comparison of Paramedic wages across Canada. With the second to highest cost of living in Canada (source), clearly British Columbia wages have fallen behind.
