Dear Mr. Campbell and Member of Legislative Assembly,

As a citizen of _______, I am concerned about the current labour dispute between BC Paramedics and the BC Ambulance service.

PLEASE SAVE OUR PARAMEDICS! THEY DESERVE A FAIR DEAL!

Across the province, Paramedics work tirelessly to ensure the health of BC residents and visitors. They provide invaluable service. However, the BC Ambulance Service has not kept pace with the rest of Canada or other Emergency Services in our Province in recognizing and compensating its employees for the work they do.

Over the past 10 years Paramedics have sacrificed their way of living to improve the BC Ambulance Service and have not received fair wage settlements. It is not fair that Paramedics are expected to work for $2/hr. Low wages are not just a burden on workers; they make it harder for the Province to find new Paramedics to fill vacancies or expand service where necessary.

Recruitment and retention struggles are well documented in the BC Ambulance Service. These struggles cost the Province money and time; money and time that could have been saved if we treated Paramedics fairly in the first place. Record numbers of Paramedics are leaving the profession.

I support your effort to make our public sector competitive with the private sector and the other Provinces. However, let us compete on the quality of our service, the satisfaction of our Paramedics and the health of our residents, NOT the bottom line.

Paramedics are on the front line, risking their lives to save ours. They respond side by side with our other Emergency personal in our communities and Paramedics deserve to be treated equally.

I support my local Paramedics and urge you to help by appointing an independent arbitrator to help resolve this situation.
